Soak the dal for 1/2 hour. Then add chana dal and cubed potato into pressure cooker, add some salt to test and turmeric powder. |

Close the lid and cook until 2 to 3 whistles. |

Now prepare for the tadka. Heat a kadhai on gas. Pour the oil and leave it for some seconds. Then add beyleaf, cumin seeds and ginger. |

Saute for 1 minute then add the tomato and cook till softened. Add little turmeric powder, curry powder and chilli powder. Let cook for 1 minute. Add some salt if needed. |

Now pour the boiled dal into the tadka. |

Leave it for 2 min and then turn off the gas. |
